Clear Cache & Hard Reload gives developers and troubleshooters targeted ways to refresh websites without clearing the entire browser cache.
Features
Standard Reload requests clearing the active page origin's HTTP cache, then reloads while bypassing HTTP cache. Deep Reload also clears that origin's Cache Storage; it does not unregister service workers.
Other features include scheduled reloads, matching-tab reloads, keyboard shortcuts, exclusions, per-site defaults, cache inspection, local history and performance statistics, plus CSV/JSON diagnostic exports.
How cache clearing works
Cache clearing applies to an origin, not a specific page URL. Other pages sharing that origin can be affected; third-party cached resources can remain. Service workers may intercept requests or repopulate caches. Cookies, local storage, IndexedDB and browsing history are not intentionally removed.
Permissions and their purpose
activeTab— temporary inspection access after a user action.tabs— identify target and matching tabs, and reload them.browsingData— clear origin-specific HTTP cache and optional Cache Storage.contextMenus— toolbar right-click commands.storage— keep settings, schedules, history and logs locally.alarms— schedule reloads.scripting— inspect service worker and Cache Storage state on request.
Privacy and support
History and diagnostics remain in Chrome's local extension storage; the extension does not send them to NickDidIt servers. See the full privacy policy.
