Clear Cache & Hard Reload is a Chrome Manifest V3 extension by NickDidIt.
Installation
Clear Cache & Hard Reload is available now on the Chrome Web Store.
- Open the Clear Cache & Hard Reload Chrome Web Store listing.
- Select Add to Chrome and confirm the installation.
- Pin the extension icon. Left-click it to open the site-specific popup, or right-click for Standard reload, Deep reload, Reload matching tabs, or Settings and history.
Chrome automatically delivers approved extension updates.
Reload modes
Standard reload: requests clearing origin-scoped HTTP cache and reloads with HTTP-cache bypass.
Deep reload: also removes Cache Storage for the origin. It does not intentionally clear cookies, localStorage or IndexedDB, or unregister service workers.
Additional features
- Popup controls for reload, on-demand caching inspection, multi-tab reload and scheduled reloads.
- Auto reload intervals of 30 seconds to 30 minutes, subject to Chrome alarm scheduling delays.
- Assignable shortcuts at
chrome://extensions/shortcuts. - Website exclusions and per-hostname reload defaults.
- Local reload history, performance timings, CSV history export and JSON diagnostics export.
Limitations and troubleshooting
Clearing a site's origin cache differs from Chrome DevTools' global Empty Cache function. Third-party resources or active service workers may still deliver cached content. A completed Chrome API call does not count deleted resources or guarantee network freshness. Chrome internal pages cannot be targeted.
For debugging, open chrome://extensions and inspect the extension's service worker console. See the privacy policy for local data handling.
